It's a controlled environment. There is air-conditioning, soundproof windows, office chairs, computers. But less than a week ago, I was on an island where people were using wooded bows and arrows to hunt monkeys and birds for food. It feels like a dream but the sunburn on my shoulders is a kind reminder that it was more than that.
I will omit the philosophical discussion about the duality of having a job that provides the means for travels, while at the same time, takes the time away from it, as it is obvious to all. But I will say that I feel very privileged and fortunate.
